Leadership often feels like looking through frosted glass—blind spots obscure the view, making it hard to see the full picture until it’s too late. As leaders in healthcare and biotech, we face frosted windows every day: challenges in scaling innovation, gaps in operational clarity, and the urgency to do more for our patients.

“From Frost to Fire” is about clearing those windows and sparking meaningful change. It’s about moving from stagnation to momentum, from uncertainty to impact, and from seeing problems to solving them.

For me, fire has always been more than a metaphor. In Chinese culture, naming a child is an intentional act, often guided by astrology. When my parents consulted a fortune teller, they were told I was destined to be fiery. My Chinese name carries the fire element three times—a reflection of my bold Aries energy and an omen of a determined, passionate spirit.

Fire has shaped my life in ways I couldn’t have predicted. It’s the spark that drove me to write my way into scholarships, to advocate for equity through speeches, and to chart a career path in healthcare and biotech. But fire isn’t just about passion—it’s about urgency. Fire reminds us that time is of the essence: urgency to act boldly, to scale success, and to do more for those who depend on us.

Recently, I was reminded of this by a song my family has been singing on repeat: "Hurricane" from Hamilton. The lyrics capture the transformative power of writing: “I wrote my way out” and “I wrote my own deliverance.” Writing has always been my compass. It’s how I’ve navigated challenges, clarified my goals, and inspired others.

This newsletter is my next step. "From Frost to Fire" is a space for connection and conversation about what it means to lead with purpose, innovate with urgency, and inspire action.
